Hey, it’s Hazem.
If you’ve ever been terrified of making a call in a language you don’t fully speak, this one’s for you.
Recently, I had to make a phone call in Czech to reserve a spot. Simple on paper, but it's a huge wall when you're not proficient in the language.
But I picked up the phone anyway, and here’s what happened:
The guy was polite, it went smooth, and I got what I needed. The fear was all in my head.
That’s when it hit me: this is the same fear people have with cold calling in business.
Cold calls feel terrifying; you expect rejection, awkwardness, maybe even hostility.
But in reality, most people are far more open than we imagine. And the only way to get the opportunity is to make the call.
Lesson here: the fear before the call is always bigger than the reality. The act of showing up confidently, even if it’s in a foreign language or with a potential client, creates opportunities you’d never get otherwise.
If picking up the phone feels tough, at least don’t go through business alone. I share weekly lessons like this one on outreach and cold calling, visibility, and growth in my newsletter. Join here and stay in the loop.
Until next time,
Hazem
PS: Just like I learned with Czech phone calls, visibility in business comes from taking action. If you’re not reaching out, you’re invisible.
